Don't go for Peace, come back to it!

People have a few kinds of reaction when I share with them what I am practicing and my experience with Ascension.
The most common one is people who can relate to what I am saying and believe that they are so stressful or unhappy in lives that they need a technique to calm themselves down and stop their minds.  Others say that they are already really content and happy and don’t need any meditation or spiritual practice, but they can always think of somebody they know that needs it. Another common reaction is that those who are challenging.
“You talk about experiencing inner peace within yourself, but what about poverty? What about wars? How can you be so selfish…?”

This is not about fixing the outside world!

For the longest time before involving in Spiritual practice, I had been trying to change the outside to make the world a better place. I had done my best to stop my friends from arguing and fighting, I had tried to help people who were in pain in any way I could, one after another. However, I was very frustrated when I found that I was not able to change the world into the peaceful planet that I thought it should be.
It wasn’t that the world didn’t want peace; it was me who was not prepared to share the true peace with the world. The peace that I was sharing was rather a concept than an actual experience.
I realized that the only way to help people experience peace, is to first know what peace is myself.

Awakening human consciousness is not about fixing the outside world; it is about recognizing the peace and the perfection of the universe that already exists, and choosing to enliven that. The happiness that I talk about now is not the temporary elation or satisfaction that I experienced when I achieved my goals, or had some kind of success in my life. It is the inner silence that exists no matter what, the peace that exists when the outside world appears to be beautiful or chaotic.  Deep inside every one of us is rooted a silent peaceful place; nothing can take it away, nothing can change it, and it is our active attention that discovers it.
That is the peace everyone’s looking for. Even the wealthiest person, who has convinced himself that he has the greatest life, wants to experience the ultimate peace, joy and love, which is the guaranteed by-product of the full recognition of the true Self.
This is why we came to Earth. Not to be satisfied with a smooth, happy life style, but to fully recognize who we are, to recognize the immortal Self, the Silence, which will never change or go away, even when our bodies perish. And then, share that peace with others, share that silence with others, enliven that in human consciousness. There are so many people out there working so hard trying to make their lives better, trying to make the world a more pleasant place, trying to survive; and no matter how hard they’ve tried, there seems to be so much more to do, to change.
This is not about cruising through life and trying to live longer, neither is this about fixing a broken universe. This is about being in Union with our true Divinity. This life is about embracing the moment-to-moment gifts that the universe has presented to us.
Don’t wait for something to happen so you can be at peace; choose to be at peace, NOW.

It is by resting in what you think was your goal, that the most exciting adventure has actually just begun.
